RETIREMENT

After just about 22 years getting to know & love my kennel clients, and over 30 years working with & placing herding breed rescues into understanding homes, I have reached the decision that it is time to officially retire now that I will be turning 60 this year.

I thought I could cut back and ease into retirement but recent events, recurring leg infections, several really hard falls and ongoing plumbing issues (especially in the cold weather) are just getting beyond what I am comfortable dealing with when living alone.

Since Covid, when a bunch of new boarding facilities opened up, and the current global unrest creating travel uncertainty, boarding has slowed down considerably and I just do not have the interest to try to increase our market share.  Once we have placements or homes for the rescues, I will be decommissioning the kennel and putting the acreage up for sale.  I plan to honour any pre-purchased 30 day packages for as long as I can but the timeline is uncertain.

My guesstimate is that May 1 might be when we will officially close our doors.  IF that should change, I will give any booked stays plenty of prior notice so you can make alternate plans.

Hopefully, I'll be able to retire to small town Alberta (unless they vote to separate) and spend quality time with my own dogs and do more agility/herding.

Thank you for your business, support & help over the years.

*The MuttBus does NOT travel on Tuesdays or Thursdays (unless they precede or follow a stat holiday), so we can spend more time with the dogs.

If you would like your dog(s) to have a bath on their return to Calgary, please contact Launder-a-Pet directly, as their grooming schedule is booked weeks in advance.  This is a separate service, provided by Launder-a-Pet.

Extreme or Dangerous Driving Conditions

If the weather is extreme- such as blizzards/white outs/icy roads, monsoon rains or tornado winds, for example - on our normal travel days, we will postpone the drive until the next day if at all possible.  We are, after all, carrying precious cargo (your dog) and we do not want to take chances if we can avoid it.  There will be no extra charge to you if we change the driving schedule due to weather or conditions we cannot prevent.
